Metallization is the process of applying carbide to any metal or steel by means of special wolfram electrodes.
With this process we achieve an extremely hard and resistant layer with a thickness from 2 to 40 microns. The hardness of the layer reaches up to 80HRC and is very tough and resistant to high temperatures.
These types of procedures are used to protect a surface from abrasion, to increase hardness, to change the texture of a surface (similar to photo etching), or to repair micro-indentations or damage to the surface. We can also use this procedure to match machine elements that have too much aeration, since the deposits are small and fairly accurate.
This process is very helpful in founding and tool making in general.
The process is fairly quick and inexpensive.
